My name is Gayneté Jones. I’m the founder and CEO of Best PERIODT. That’s the period with the T at the end. And it’s really a menstrual care brand that’s helping make period sustainable, fun, comfortable, and cool for the first time. And a lot of those words typically aren’t synonymous with period. So we’re really here to shake up the personal care aisle really and just bring something new, something fresh that helps better your buddy the environment. And that’s inclusive of all of us. It’s something that affects so many of us. And when I say us, I mean the population, right? Half of the world just about either has had a period, they’re gonna have a period soon, or they currently dealing with periods. And it is something like you mentioned, is so taboo. It’s something that people don’t like to speak about or that they’re ashamed of and it’s something we just wanna change the narrative around, not just periods themselves but the products associated with them.
So for me, it came from wanting to do something that was healthier for my buddy I and the environment. And I had tried menstrual cups in the past and the ones I tried didn’t have enough capacity for heavy flow days and they also leak. I’m like, okay, wanna fix that. And also all the other things I didn’t like about others that I had tried in the past. So it was really recreating what’s there and making it better and better suited for us just so that we can have better period experiences. And while the first products from the brand are Menstrual cups, two sizes, you know, we keep saying it’s the genesis of mega-brand. So it is not just cups. We have three more products coming out this year, which we’re really excited about and it’s really trying to, not trying to make period sustainable, comfortable, cool, and fun for the first time.
I actually reached out to Ticora before we launched because I knew that, as I said, this is the genesis of a mega brand. I saw the vision for the company long before we launched and I wanted to ensure it was protected. So I’ve had Ticora on my podcast, the Freedom Slave podcast in the past, and I just think she’s amazing. I think her company is amazing. So I wanted to trust her with my baby, which is the best period. So we did go ahead and get the logo trademark and it’s so much more that we want to get done with it in the future.
I have five trademarks and I know the importance of ensuring that it is protected. So I knew for sure before we even as I said, launched that I wanted to get this trademarked. So we had an intent to use Mark initially because we hadn’t launched yet. And then soon as we launched it was so smooth turning it into an actual trademark and the process there.
Well, you definitely feel more confident and comfortable going about your business on a daily basis, right? Sharing the information, not afraid someone’s gonna use it, and knowing that if they do that you can turn around and you know, do something about it. So I think it’s having that extra level of comfort and support. And then on the other end, it’s also knowing that IP is its intellectual property. People talk about real estate all the time and physical property, but IP actually lifts up the valuation of your business as well. So for us, it’s an important piece that not only we’re gonna hold onto and love, but we’re gonna continue to grow our IP and we wanna get more trademarks protected with the creator’s law firm and roadblocks come each and every day as an entrepreneur, right? Luckily I’ve been in the game for seven years now.
Previous to having the best period, I also have, I have written a book, I have e-courses, have other things, podcasts, and a bunch of other things going on. So I did have a lot of that under control. But creating a physical product is a whole different thing. So while some of the things are helpful, I did find that there were new challenges that popped up with it. And I would say it’s really about reaffirming yourself daily. Like, I can do this. I’ve got this. And understanding that you don’t have to know everything to move forward. So I think that’s a big issue. So many people have thought they have to know everything about all things before they create something or move forward. You just need to have people around you that knew as well. So we had gynecologists recommend and approve and look through it.
We have FDA registration, we had a menstrual cup engineer created with our designs and you know, so we, I didn’t have to take on everything myself. And I think a piece of that is delegation and understanding really expertise lies, right? So it was that piece of it. And also understanding that you don’t have to know everything. I can know 90% of things about menstruation. I don’t have to know a hundred at the moment. I’ll get close enough, right? But I can know 90% and there are many people that know less than 90% that I can help and move along as well. So I think we stop ourselves and we hesitate a lot of times about talking about all things because we think we don’t know it all, but no one does, Not even the experts. And that’s proven over and over again. When years later, new, you know, information comes out and you realized what they said way back when was not, is not incorrect. So I think it’s just giving yourself some slack, cutting yourself some slack, and knowing you don’t have to know it all and let yourself know what you know right now is enough to move.
Oh, don’t be on the fence. They are amazing. They have amazing customer service. One of the reasons I absolutely love them. Um, I’ve worked with other law firms in the past, and Creator’s Law Firm is by far superior, like by a whole lot. So I would say don’t hesitate and just, just do it.
